CED was formed from a merger of two long-standing energetics and systems providers in the aerospace and defense industry: Hi-Shear Technology Corporation and SCOT Incorporated. Since 1957 they have provided a wide range of ordnance solutions with 100% mission success. Major products and qualifications include: the NASA Standard Initiator (NSI) and PC-23, pressure cartridges, electronic safe & arm devices, pyro-mechanical thrusters and actuators, and pyro-mechanical separation devices. They incorporate unique automated energetics blending and internal environmental testing capabilities in the CED facility at Downers Grove, Illinois in order to optimize manufacturing, test, and delivery time.

CED’s parent company, Chemring Group plc, is a FTSE 500 international company committed to supplying engineered solutions to the aerospace and defense markets.
